Names that didn't make the cut.

Many people have been interested in what we're going to name our new daughter ... including us.

Well, the votes are in and we've come to a decision. But, in American Idol style, well start first with a list of baby names that were eliminated in the late rounds.

Then, over the next couple of days we'll reveal the first and middle names that we have selected.

Top 10 names that we are not naming our daughter:

10. Dorcas. Yes, it' Biblical. And we've known nice people with this name. We considered it ... briefly.

9. Annie. Cute name. Meg Ryan's character in Sleepless in Seattle. But it would open her up to teasing about another "little orphan" with that name.

8. Halle, Madonna, Demi, Paris, Beyonce, etc. No, they aren't names of Dan's former girlfriends. We just rather avoid names that might be splashed all over the tabloids.

7. Any name that begins with K. With a last name of Yuen, it just makes for some bad initials. Too bad, too. We both liked the name Katie.

6. Catie. Every time we spelled it, we would be reminded why we didn't spell it with a K.

5. Keeping her chinese name. We'll probably use the wrong tones and she'll wonder why we are calling her something like "Miserable Termite".

4. Yarecoph Evisinds. That's what I got from an online baby name inventor. Yes. I specified that I wanted a girl's name.

3. Lindsay, Lucy, Karenna. Those are names of her cousins.

2. Mitchell. Same reason as #3. Yeah. Too bad that name was taken, huh?

And the top name we are not naming our baby:

1. Jana. Nice name. We really like the meaning (God is Gracious). There's even a woman in our traveling group with that name. So, why not? Try this: Dan, Donna, Jon, Jana. Now wasn't that sweet? How many of you got a cavity from saying that?

And, many times, the first runner up ends up being the real winner. Just ask Clay Aiken. ;-)

Looking forward to traveling with you and Russ, Jana.
